Why Choose Custom Woven Patches

Sharper Detail

Sharper Detail

Thin woven threads capture small text and fine linework that embroidery cannot hold.

Slim Flexible Finish

Slim Flexible Finish

The flat weave adds almost no bulk, so patches move with the fabric they are applied to.

Woven Patches VS Embroidered Patches

Detail & Resolution

Detail & Resolution

  • Woven Patches: Fine threads hold small text, thin outlines, and gradients cleanly at small sizes.
  • Embroidered Patches: Thicker thread limits how small text and fine detail can go before closing up.
Thickness & Feel

Thickness & Feel

  • Woven Patches: Flat and thin with a smooth surface that adds very little bulk to the garment.
  • Embroidered Patches: Raised stitching with a textured surface and a noticeable thickness.
Color Handling

Color Handling

  • Woven Patches: Blends and shading are produced by interlacing threads across the design.
  • Embroidered Patches: Colors sit in defined stitched blocks, which suits bold, separated artwork.
Best Application

Best Application

  • Woven Patches: Detailed logos, brand labels, caps, and lightweight apparel.
  • Embroidered Patches: Jackets, workwear, and designs where raised texture is the goal.

Why Choose Woven Patches

A circular embroidered tactical patch featuring a black eagle with outstretched wings over a black shield containing a gold sword, set on a beige background with a laurel wreath and ornate border, photographed on a dark textured surface.

Damask Woven Patches

The finest weave we produce, using thin threads at high density. Damask is the right choice when artwork carries small type, thin outlines, or intricate detail that has to stay legible.

Five embroidered patches with different military-style insignias, including a pine tree, mountains, an anchor, and a sunset, arranged on a light gray background.

Taffeta Woven Patches

A slightly coarser weave with a subtle sheen and a lower unit cost. Taffeta works well for simpler logos and larger runs where fine detail is not the deciding factor.

A close-up of a cream-colored ribbed knit garment with several fabric swatches in beige and cream tones arranged beside it on a light neutral background.

Woven Labels & Tags

Neck labels, care tags, and sew-in brand labels produced in the same weave as your patches. This keeps branding consistent from the outside of the garment to the inside.

A coordinated apparel and accessories set displayed on a light neutral background, including an olive canvas tote bag, a beige backpack, a black hooded jacket, a brown folded hoodie, an olive baseball cap, and a beige zip pouch. Each item has a small square mountain logo patch on the front.

Brand Merchandise

Woven patches applied across a full product range so every item carries identical branding. Popular with apparel labels, event organizers, and outdoor equipment brands.

Four bucket-style baseball caps in brown, navy, black, and beige, each featuring a rectangular mountain patch on the front, arranged on a light beige studio background.

Caps & Hats

The flat profile sits flush against a cap front panel without the bulk that raised embroidery adds, which keeps the shape of the cap intact.

A coordinated set of military-style apparel and gear arranged on a dark gray surface, including a duffel bag, jacket, shirt, cap, and folded shirts in navy, olive, tan, and charcoal, each with matching insignia patches.

Uniforms & Team Gear

Detailed insignia, rank markings, and service logos reproduced accurately at the small sizes uniform placement usually requires.

A collection of outdoor gear from the brand Mountain Gear, including a black hooded jacket, an olive green backpack, a black duffel bag, and a dark gray zippered hoodie, arranged together on a neutral gray background.

Jackets & Outerwear

Woven patches hold up on backpacks, technical shells, and travel gear where a thin, abrasion resistant finish is an advantage.

The Custom Patches reproduces your artwork with precision, including the small text and thin lines that usually get lost in production. We confirm legibility at your chosen size before the run begins.

A classic Ferrari shield logo featuring a yellow background, a black rearing horse, and the letters 'S F' at the bottom, bordered by green, white, and red stripes.

We use quality polyester threads and controlled weave density so colors stay true and edges stay clean through repeated washing. Material and weave are matched to the item the patch will sit on.

Thread Colors & Blending

Match brand colors precisely and blend adjacent threads to produce shading and gradients. Blending is what allows woven patches to carry artwork that embroidery would need to simplify. Image alt: Woven patch showing color blending and gradient detail

Two round embroidered patches featuring a mountain landscape with snowy peaks and dark pine trees, displayed on a light textured fabric background.

Weave Density & Finish

Choose damask for maximum detail or taffeta for a lighter finish at a lower cost. Density is selected against the smallest element in your artwork rather than the overall patch size. Image alt: Comparison of damask and taffeta woven patch finishes

Five embroidered outdoor-themed patches arranged on a light beige fabric background. The patches include a round mountain lake design, a square desert sunset design, a shield-shaped rocky coastline design, a wolf head design, and a hexagonal mountain design.

Patch Shapes & Edge Finishes

Select from standard shapes or fully custom outlines. Laser cut edges give a clean contour for complex shapes, while merrowed borders provide the traditional raised frame around the design. Image alt: Woven patches with laser cut and merrowed border edge finishes

Four embroidered tactical patches on a light beige textured background. Two square patches are solid black and olive drab green, while two rectangular patches feature mountain and sunset landscape designs with a peeled-back bottom corner showing the white backing.

Backing Options

Pick from iron-on, sew-on, hook and loop, or adhesive backing. Iron-on suits fast application, hook and loop suits patches that need to be removed and swapped regularly. Image alt: Reverse of a woven patch showing hook and loop backing

Frequently Asked Questions

Woven patches hold text down to roughly 3mm in height, which is smaller than embroidery can manage cleanly. The exact limit depends on the font weight, so send the artwork and we will confirm legibility before production.

No. Woven patches are finished with a laser cut, hot cut, or merrowed edge, each of which seals the perimeter and prevents fraying. Merrowed borders add a raised stitched frame if you want a more traditional look.

We accept small woven patch orders as well as large production runs, and unit pricing improves as quantity increases. Woven patches often come in below embroidery at small sizes, since pricing is not driven by stitch count.

Yes. Woven patches are machine washable and hold their color and shape through regular laundering. Washing in cold water and air drying extends the life of both the patch and the garment it is applied to.
